Has more than
twenty years of experience in the healthcare industry,
with the last fifteen years spent in Clinical Technology
and academic clinical and basic science research, hospital
administration and consulting for academic and healthcare
industry clients.He is the past founder, developer and
administrator of multiple academic departments of clinical
research and technology centers in South New Jersey (Cooper
Hospital University Medical Center/University of Medicine
and Dentistry on New Jersey) and Staten Island University
Hospital/State University of New York (SUNY) and has served
as Department Chairman (Director) of Research and Clinical
Technology, thereafter as Director of the Center for Research
and Clinical Technology affiliated with Staten Island
University Hospital, Staten Island, New York.
Dr. Cernaianu has provided consulting services for a variety
of healthcare industry leaders such as GE Medical Systems
for the development of the first Image-Guided Surgery
Center in the world, SwissRay Medical Inc. for the introduction
of the first digital filmless radiology systems in the
world, and many other important leaders in R&D in
healthcare such as: Abbot Laboratories, Philips Medical
Systems, Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, Parke Davis, Mallinckrodt,
Inc., Miles Pharmaceuticals, Squibb Corporation, Datascope
Corporation,. Ethicon Corporation, Becton Dickinson and
Co., Abbott Critical Care Systems, Aragona Medical, Inc.,
Winthrop Pharmaceuticals, Baxter Edwards Critical Care,
Sienco Corporation, Medtronics Inc., Upjohn Corp., Alliance

the development of numerous medical concepts, drugs and technologies presently on the market.
Dr. Cernaianu is a productive contributor to the medical
literature with over 275 published articles and abstracts
in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 15 chapters in
medical books. He is also the Editor and Founder of 7
surgically-oriented books under the title of "Current
Issues in Surgery"TM, Plenum Publishing, New York,
NY. Dr. Cernaianu also served as Program Chairman of 2
International Medical Congresses, related to surgery (13
years) and critical care (6 years). Dr. Cernaianu is a
Member of 18 American and International Medical Societies
and a Fellow of 8 prominent Medical Societies.
During the last years, Dr. Cernaianu has developed
healthcare strategies for different Ministries of Health
of counties in South Eastern and Central Europe. In
conjunction with specific international leaders in the
healthcare industry, he was instrumental in the development
of the country's strategy of healthcare reform programs.
As the result, many countries have made substantial
investments in state-of-the-art medical technology and
they are on their way to provide western type medical
services to their population. As part of these programs,
Dr. Cernaianu developed the most modern Neurosurgical
Center in South Central Europe. Similar endeavors are
presently underway in Albania, Bulgaria, Montenegro,
Moldova and other Eastern and Central European countries.
